Photography:
AJ has a strong photographic eye and takes a photojournalistic approach to his work and his subjects. He has photographed most subjects and has worked on multiple continents (photographing destination weddings and yoga retreats).
AJ started his journey with photography in 2007. He was originally a pre-med student in college, and decided that microbiology lab was boring. When he dropped that lab credit he needed to replace it, and found Black and White Darkroom photography.
He worked his way through undergrad and grad school as a photojournalist, graphic designer, and editor for the college he attended as well as local newspapers. He has also worked as a freelance photographer ever since. Currently he works for 512 Portrait Company doing young athlete photography as well as college and high school seniors.
Massage Therapy:
AJ went to massage school in 2017 in Portland, Oregon. He attended East West College of the Healing Arts. Since completing his 800 hour massage program he has practiced in a variety of environments and added many modalities to his offerings.
AJ practices: Ashiatsu, Cupping (Fire and suction), Abhyanga, Shirodara, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Aromatherapy, Himalayan Salt Stone, Hot Stone, Vichy, Chair and Event, Scrubs, Body Wraps, Tui Na, Therabody.
He has held licenses in the following states: Texas (Active), Oregon (Inactive), Pennsylvania (Expired), Maine (Expired), Missouri (Expired), Olathe/Kanas (Expired), Colorado (Expired).
AJ has worked in private practice, focusing on medical work with clients healing from car accidents. He has also worked extensively with athletic clients to perform at peak performance for a variety of sports. He has also worked in day spas as well as high end retreat resorts.
Ayurveda:
AJ first started studying Ayurveda in 2016 as part of his advanced (500 Hour) yoga teacher training. He was introduced to his teachers at Maha Vidya Yoga and Ayurveda in this training. He has studied it since then, with a primary focus starting in 2020 on his first level certification to become an Ayurvedic Health Advisor. He completed that training in 2020, and his hands on internship in 2023 in Pune, India.
Reiki:
AJ was introduced to the idea of learning reiki while in Nepal on a retreat. He complete all three levels, including Reiki Master with Marie Manucherie in Seattle, Washington in 2017.
